MUSCAT – The ruling, issued under Royal Decree No. 66/2014, found that the accused did not provide the service in a manner consistent with its agreed nature and standard.
The case originated when the Consumer Protection Authority’s department in Muscat Governorate received a complaint from a consumer who had contracted the company to arrange hotel bookings, tourist tours, and airport transfers for a trip to Thailand scheduled for July 2025.
According to the complaint, the consumer was unable to benefit from any of the agreed services and did not receive a response from the provider, prompting him to demand a refund of RO 1,283.

Following an investigation and evidence collection, the case was referred to the competent authorities, which initiated legal proceedings that resulted in a conviction in the presence of the parties.
The court sentenced the first accused, in his capacity as the service provider, to six months’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of RO 100. The second accused, the company, was also fined RO 100.
In addition, the court ordered both parties to refund RO 1,283 to the consumer and to bear the legal expenses.
