MUSCAT – The Authority stated that the warning applies to the Addo Creative Candles – Edition Four toy, model number B-19180-318, manufactured in China. Laboratory results revealed potential trace amounts of asbestos, a substance known to cause serious health problems upon exposure.

In response, the CPA said it had followed up on the alert through official channels and conducted field inspections and search operations carried out by its enforcement teams. However, no authorised local distributor for the product was identified within the Sultanate of Oman.

This suggests the product may have entered the local market through unofficial channels, including online purchases or imports from neighbouring countries.

The Authority urged consumers to immediately stop using the product and ensure that children do not handle it. It also stressed the importance of verifying the safety, origin, and compliance of children’s toys before purchase, and following instructions and warnings issued by relevant authorities.
