MUSCAT — Oman’s Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) has announced a reduction in electricity tariffs for residential users, alongside measures to prevent service disconnections and introduce flexible payment plans during the peak summer months.
In a statement carried by Oman News Agency on May 3, the authority said the move aims to mitigate the impact of increased electricity consumption driven by rising temperatures.
The measures will be implemented from May through August 2026, a period typically marked by high energy demand due to extreme heat.

The regulator said it would not disconnect electricity services for residential users during this period and encouraged consumers to opt for flexible bill payment plans to manage higher usage.
Officials noted that the initiative is designed to support households while maintaining service continuity, as electricity consumption is expected to surge during the summer months.
