MUSCAT — These projects covering 300 acres – distributed across Al Buraimi, North Al Sharqiyah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates – aim to enhance food security and support modern farming technologies.
The contracts include a wide range of agricultural and production activities, such as the cultivation of wild trees and beekeeping, greenhouse and modern technology-based vegetable farming, and grape production in North Al Sharqiyah. They also cover the cultivation of fodder crops and field crops, along with fruit production including guava and sapodilla, as well as onion farming.
In Dhofar Governorate, the projects include frankincense production, while South Al Batinah will see the establishment of a water purification and bottling facility under an industrial investment component linked to the agricultural sector.

Officials said the agreements reflect stronger coordination between government entities and align with national efforts to maximise the use of agricultural land through sustainable, productive investments that enhance local output, strengthen supply chains and expand opportunities for agricultural development across the governorates.

The agricultural sector has also witnessed sustained momentum, with more than 585 usufruct contracts signed over the past year, underscoring its growing role in supporting food security and boosting domestic production.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote investment in agriculture, empower entrepreneurs and ensure optimal use of natural resources to generate added value from government-owned land.
The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Eng. Hamad bin Ali Al Nizwani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Housing, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture, along with a number of officials in the agricultural sector.
