Rabat: The discussions took place during an official meeting between Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al-Najjar, Oman’s Minister of Social Development, and Her Excellency Naima Ibn Yahya, Morocco’s Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, as part of an official visit by the Omani delegation to Morocco.
The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and learn from pioneering experiences in the social sector. Both sides reviewed key areas including social welfare systems, child and family protection, elderly care, and empowerment programmes for people with disabilities, alongside mechanisms to advance women’s empowerment.
Particular emphasis was placed on Morocco’s experience in organising and developing social welfare institutions, enhancing the capabilities of social sector professionals, and fostering partnerships with civil society organisations.

The disability sector also featured prominently in discussions, with both countries examining ways to improve access to services, refine disability assessment systems, and expand facilities for persons with disabilities.
In a separate meeting, Dr. Al-Najjar met with His Excellency Dr. Abdeljabbar Rachidi, Secretary of State in charge of Social Integration in Morocco. Talks focused on strengthening frameworks for social integration, including legislative and regulatory measures that support the independence and well-being of persons with disabilities, as well as the health and social services available to them.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Omani Minister also met with Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Director General Dr. Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik at the organisation’s headquarters in Rabat, in the presence of Oman’s Ambassador to Morocco, His Excellency Khalid bin Salim Bamkhalif.
The meeting explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in areas such as child safety, family cohesion, and cultural development, while also reviewing the ongoing partnership between Oman and ISESCO.
