MUSCAT – The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.
The hospital will provide advanced therapeutic and rehabilitation programmes that will deal with psychological, behavioural and social aspects in the lives of addicts, with the aims of enabling them to regain their active role in society.
The minister and the guests went on tour of the hospital, which consists of four main buildings. The first phase of the hospital includes integrated facilities: a 30-bed inpatient ward, specialized clinics, group therapy halls and rehabilitation units.
The second phase of the hospital will include the establishment of a 25-bed specialised detoxification department.

The hospital will offer a comprehensive package of rehabilitation treatment programmes for addicts, including individual and group psychotherapy. It will also provide programmes for the modification of behaviour and the prevention of relapse, in addition to social rehabilitation programmes leading to the patients’ sustainable reintegration into the community.
The treatment programme ranges from a few weeks to six months, depending on the case of an addict. Once the hospital receives a patient, it coordinates with Muscat Recovery Centre for the assessment of the case and the preparation of relevant rehabilitation programmes, followed by discharge and follow-up plans to ensure the sustainable recovery of the patient.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, in addition to local dignitaries, government officials and representatives of government and private sector establishments.
