MUSCAT : In a video released by the ROP, victims recounted their experiences falling prey to scams. One victim said, “I was basically on my way to file a complaint and this is what happened. I noticed that the price was very attractive and immediately transferred the advance payment.”
Another added, “I trusted the caller because he claimed to represent an official authority. That’s why I shared my personal information with him.” Identities in the video were blurred to protect privacy.
An ROP official stressed that sharing bank details, OTPs, or clicking on fake links grants scammers full access to personal accounts. “Stay vigilant – always verify the source before taking action,” the official advised.
