MUSCAT : This marks a significant step in adopting advanced medical technologies and enhancing healthcare quality.
The procedure employed a state-of-the-art robotic surgical system, offering high-resolution 3D vision and precise control of instruments, enabling surgeons to remove the tumour while preserving healthy kidney tissue. A second operation in the same specialty was also conducted using video-contact technology.



Both operations were performed by Major Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Rashidi, Senior Consultant Urologist, utilising robotic and endoscopic techniques, with full support from the anaesthesia, nursing, and medical support teams. Both procedures were reported successful.
The use of surgical robots allows for enhanced accuracy, providing high-definition 3D vision and instruments that mimic human hand movements with precision, enabling surgeons to operate efficiently in narrow or complex areas.
This milestone aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to develop a modern health system built on innovation and cutting-edge technologies, and demonstrates the readiness of Omani medical professionals to embrace the latest advancements in microsurgery.
