MUSCAT – In a clarification issued on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the Authority said data from the Naqi platform indicated varying concentrations of air pollutants linked to dust conditions. The increase in suspended particulate matter has, at times, caused air quality levels to fall into categories considered ‘unhealthy’, particularly for individuals with allergies or respiratory sensitivities.
According to the Authority, these fluctuations are a direct result of the dust storm, which has led to higher concentrations of airborne particles and diminished atmospheric clarity across affected areas.
The Authority urged the public to stay informed by monitoring air quality indicators through the Naqi platform and to take precautionary measures, including reducing outdoor exposure when dust levels rise. It also highlighted the importance of following health guidelines to minimise the potential impact of air conditions.
