MUSCAT : According to the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center under the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a trough of low pressure will affect the Sultanate starting Tuesday evening, continuing until Thursday morning, bringing scattered rainfall of varying intensity, sometimes thundery, accompanied by active winds. The system may lead to flash flooding in wadis and valleys and reduced horizontal visibility during rainfall.
Tuesday, March 31:
Cloud formation is expected over Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar, with light to moderate rain and limited chances of flash flooding. Winds are expected at 10-20 knots.
Wednesday to Thursday morning, April 1–2:
Cloud cover will expand across Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, North and South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Ash Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar (from Wednesday evening). Rainfall intensity may vary and become thundery, with low to moderate impact. Flash floods in wadis and valleys are expected, with active winds reaching 15-30 knots (27–55 km/h).
Sea Conditions:
The sea will be moderate to rough along most coasts, with waves up to 2–3 meters. The CAA advises avoiding sea activities during thunderstorms.
Authorities urged residents to exercise caution during rainfall and flash floods, check weather updates before traveling, and follow official bulletins from the Oman Meteorology website (https://met.caa.gov.om).
