MUSCAT : According to the embassy, the video — which claims the Indian Army chief said India informed Israel about the location of an Iran-linked vessel crossing international waters — is fabricated and designed to mislead the public.

Officials said the clip, shared by some social media accounts, is an AI-generated deepfake, and the remarks attributed to General Dwivedi are entirely false.

The warning follows a fact-check issued by the Press Information Bureau under its PIB Fact Check initiative, which confirmed that the Indian Army chief has not made any such statement.

“Beware! This is an AI-generated deepfake video shared to mislead the public,” the advisory said, urging people to verify information before sharing it online.

Authorities have called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious or misleading content. Individuals who come across such material are encouraged to immediately report it to the PIB Fact Check team via phone at +91 8799711259 or by email at factcheck@pib.gov.in.
