MUSCAT : Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the activation of the ‘Libreng Tawag’ (Free Call) programme, directing telecommunications companies to waive charges for OFWs in response to heightened regional uncertainties. The initiative aims to provide critical support by removing the financial burden of staying connected during a period of geopolitical instability.

The programme covers Filipinos residing in several countries, including Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

In a social media post, President Marcos said the initiative is part of broader government efforts to support overseas Filipinos during uncertain times.

“Further assistance has been initiated for our overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East,” he said, adding that the goal is to ensure Filipinos abroad remain connected with their families without incurring additional costs.
