MUSCAT – Oman has warned that the Middle East is facing a “dangerous turning point” as military operations escalate, urging regional and international actors to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further instability.

In a statement delivered during an extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council held via video conference, Oman said the region was witnessing rising tensions due to the ongoing Israeli-U.S. military operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Speaking on behalf of the Sultanate, Foreign Minister HE Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi cautioned that the conflict risks undermining political, economic and security stability across the region.

He said the ongoing war – described as illegal – could have far-reaching consequences for regional security and the safety of its people.

“Oman affirms that the region stands at a dangerous turning point as military escalation intensifies,” the statement said, stressing the need to restore the language of dialogue and peace.

Al Busaidi called for intensified diplomatic and political efforts to address the root causes of the conflict and find a peaceful resolution that preserves regional security and stability.

He added that a negotiated solution would help spare the region and its people from the devastating consequences of prolonged conflict.

The meeting of Arab foreign ministers was convened to discuss the latest regional developments and coordinate positions as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.
