New Delhi — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent drone strikes targeting Oman, describing them as a violation of the Sultanate’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and called for immediate de-escalation amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on X following a telephonic conversation with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Modi said he had exchanged views on the latest regional developments and reiterated India’s firm stance against any infringement on Oman’s sovereignty.
“Spoke with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and exchanged views on recent developments in West Asia. Condemned the violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Indian leader underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in preventing further escalation, at a time when drone and missile attacks have heightened security concerns across the region.
Modi also expressed deep appreciation for Oman’s continued support and protection of the Indian community residing in the Sultanate. With hundreds of thousands of Indian expatriates contributing to Oman’s economy across sectors, bilateral ties between the two nations remain robust and people-centric.
“Deeply appreciated Oman’s continued support to the Indian community,” Modi added, highlighting the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between Muscat and New Delhi.
The conversation comes as regional leaders intensify diplomatic outreach efforts to contain tensions and safeguard stability. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to peace, security and constructive engagement to ensure that the current crisis does not further destabilize the wider Gulf region.
