Tehran: The development comes just hours after Iranian state media confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei following widespread strikes across the country.
According to Iranian state TV, Abdul Rahim Mousavi, who served as the Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, was killed in the attacks that began early Saturday morning (local time). The announcement marks a significant blow to Iran’s military leadership amid intensifying hostilities in the region.
