MUSCAT : The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have called on motorists to respect the tranquillity of residential neighbourhoods, warning against the disruptive use of motorcycles that generate excessive noise, particularly during late hours.
In a public awareness message, the ROP stressed that roads are not spaces for showmanship but shared areas that require mutual respect among all users. “The road is not a stage for display, but a shared space where we respect others’ right to calm and reassurance,” the message stated.
ROP noted that reckless riding and the deliberate modification of exhaust systems to produce loud sounds disturb public comfort and negatively impact families, children and the elderly in residential areas. Such behaviour, they said, undermines the sense of safety and peace that communities are entitled to enjoy.

The campaign forms part of broader traffic safety and community awareness efforts aimed at promoting responsible driving habits across the Sultanate. ROP urged motorcyclists and other road users to adhere to traffic laws and consider the well-being of residents, especially during nighttime hours when noise carries further and causes greater disturbance.
