MUSCAT – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held telephone talks with leaders of Gulf states to discuss the latest regional developments, expressing concern over escalating military tensions following Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran, Oman’s state news agency reported.
According to the statement, His Majesty Sultan Haitham spoke with His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar; King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain; and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
During the calls, His Majesty reassured the leaders about the safety of their countries and peoples and reiterated Oman’s firm rejection and condemnation of military escalation and its grave consequences.

The statement said Oman warned of the serious risks posed by the current developments following Israeli and U.S. targeting of sites in the Islamic Republic of Iran, cautioning that continued escalation could undermine regional security and stability.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, exercising restraint, and immediately halting military operations. He called for a return to dialogue and diplomatic channels to safeguard the security of the region and the safety of its peoples.
For their part, the Gulf leaders expressed appreciation for what they described as Oman’s balanced and wise approach under His Majesty Sultan Haitham’s leadership, particularly its efforts to promote peace, encourage dialogue and bridge differences among parties.
