MUSCAT – In a public advisory, the municipality stressed the importance of keeping cooked food at the correct temperature, ensuring it is properly covered, and storing it separately from raw food items to prevent cross-contamination and reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses.
The advisory cautioned against storing cooked food in refrigerators for extended periods, noting that prolonged storage can increase the likelihood of spoilage. The municipality also advised residents not to leave food outside the refrigerator for more than two hours, particularly in warm weather conditions.
It further emphasised that raw food should always be stored separately from ready-to-eat or cooked food to prevent contamination.
