MUSCAT – In a public advisory, health officials stressed that fasting is a trust and that health must remain a priority, urging diabetic patients to follow medical guidance to ensure safe and balanced fasting throughout the month.
Specialist doctors advised patients to drink sufficient amounts of water during non-fasting hours to prevent dehydration and to avoid sugars and sweetened juices. They also recommended engaging in moderate physical activity, preferably after Iftar.
The advisory further emphasised the importance of regularly monitoring blood glucose levels and strictly adhering to the treatment plan prescribed by a physician. Patients were also encouraged to ensure they eat Suhoor and delay the pre-dawn meal as much as possible to help maintain stable blood sugar levels during fasting hours.
