MUSCAT : The Food Control and Licensing Department at South Al Sharqiyah Municipality conducted intensive inspection campaigns between 8 and 17 February 2026, visiting 184 food establishments as part of its first-quarter monitoring efforts.
According to the municipality, the campaign resulted in the issuance of 17 health violations and 18 food destruction reports. A total of 154.15 kilograms of food items deemed unfit for human consumption were confiscated and destroyed during the inspections.
The municipality stated that the campaign forms part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight of food establishments and ensure compliance with approved health regulations, with the aim of safeguarding public health and enhancing consumer safety across the governorate.
