MUSCAT : The figures reflect the growing effectiveness of amicable dispute resolution mechanisms in strengthening family and community stability.

According to official data, the committees received 23,292 requests during the year and held 2,636 sessions. Of these, 12,864 were civil cases, 6,010 were Sharia-related matters, and 4,418 were commercial disputes. A total of 1,411 requests, representing 13 percent, were not settled due to lack of agreement between the parties.

At the governorate level, Muscat recorded the highest number of resolved cases with 1,476 settlements, followed by Al Dakhiliyah with 1,325 and North Al Batinah with 1,288 cases. In terms of sessions conducted, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate led with 447 sessions, ahead of South Al Sharqiyah with 411 and North Al Sharqiyah with 375 sessions.

At the wilayat level, Seeb recorded the highest number of incoming requests at 2,136, followed by Barka with 1,789 and Saham with 1,398 requests.

The number of reconciliation and mediation committees increased to 58 across various governorates during the year, expanding access to services and accelerating settlement procedures.

The Ministry of Interior continues to enhance the reconciliation system through digital transformation initiatives, including the ‘settlement’ electronic platform, which enables parties to submit requests online and contributes to faster procedures and improved service efficiency.
