MUSCAT: As the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations approach, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an important advisory outlining key instructions for students, parents and schools.

The board exams are scheduled to commence on February 17, with over 4.6 million students expected to appear across India and in 26 countries worldwide.

Reach Early, Plan Ahead

CBSE has directed students to arrive at their examination centres well before 10am. Entry formalities will close ahead of the 10.30am start time, and late arrivals may not be permitted to enter.

Students have been advised to factor in possible traffic congestion, diversions or public events that could delay travel. Visiting the examination centre beforehand to avoid last-minute confusion has been strongly recommended.

Mandatory Documents and Strict Rules

Candidates must carry a printed admit card along with a valid photo identity proof. Only essential stationery items will be allowed inside the examination hall.

Electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartwatches and other gadgets, are strictly prohibited. CBSE has reiterated that any form of unfair practice will invite strict action as per examination guidelines.

Digital Evaluation for Class 12

In a major reform, CBSE will implement digital evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets through On-Screen Marking. The move is aimed at enhancing transparency, reducing errors and expediting result processing.

With the introduction of digital assessment, post-result verification for Class 12 answer sheets will no longer be available.

Stay Calm and Focused

The board has urged students to remain calm, follow invigilators’ instructions carefully and maintain discipline throughout the examination period.

As one of the most significant academic milestones for students, the upcoming board exams demand careful planning, punctuality and composure — qualities CBSE says will ensure a smooth and successful examination experience.
