MUSCAT : Oman will begin hosting the ‘Together Forward’ forum across the Sultanate’s governorates starting next year, in a move aimed at deepening public participation and addressing local development priorities, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers said.
His Excellency Sheikh Al Fadhl bin Mohammed Al Harthy said the decision comes in response to public feedback following previous editions of the forum, which have been held in Muscat to discuss national and strategic issues.
Under the new approach, the main ‘Together Forward’ forum will continue to be convened in Muscat on an alternating basis, while the following year will be dedicated to holding focused dialogue sessions in governorates across the country. These sessions will concentrate on local development challenges and opportunities specific to each governorate.

Al Harthy said residents will play a central role in shaping the agenda, with citizens selecting the topics they consider most important for discussion. Participation will be organised through a dedicated digital platform, allowing wider engagement and structured dialogue.
The initiative reflects the government’s broader efforts to strengthen communication with society, enhance participatory governance, and align local development priorities with national strategies.
