MUSCAT : Oman’s tax revenues are used to finance essential public services such as hospitals, schools and infrastructure, and help reduce the need for government borrowing or spending cuts, the head of the country’s tax authority said.
“Tax revenues are yours and are spent for your benefit,” His Excellency Nasser Khamis Al Jashmi, chairman of the Oman Tax Authority, said during a media briefing on Thursday.
Al Jashmi said taxes play a central role in supporting the state’s basic infrastructure and public services, adding that without such revenues the government would face tougher fiscal choices, including increased borrowing or reductions in expenditure.
