MUSCAT : Organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry through the Joint Omani–Turkish Business Council, the forum took place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 2 to 4. The event saw wide participation from officials and business leaders from both sides, reflecting growing interest in deepening and diversifying bilateral economic ties, particularly in high-growth sectors within Oman.

Addressing the forum, HE Sezai Uçarmak, Deputy Minister at Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade, said economic cooperation is a cornerstone for promoting peace and stability with neighbouring countries. He noted that strong trade relations remain the most effective way to build trust and expand shared interests, adding that Türkiye continues to believe in openness, mutual benefit and a “win–win” approach despite recent economic challenges.

He also highlighted the deep historical ties between Oman and Türkiye, stressing that Oman’s long-standing maritime and trading expertise provides a strong foundation for broader economic collaboration. Describing Oman as a strategic partner with an ambitious economic vision, he emphasised the importance of activating the Joint Omani–Turkish Business Council to facilitate trade flows, boost investment and strengthen private sector partnerships.

From the Omani side, Sheikh Salem bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Head of the Omani side of the Joint Omani–Turkish Business Council, said Oman offers a promising and diversified investment environment, with opportunities across key sectors including industry, energy, logistics, tourism, mining and the green economy. He added that Türkiye’s position among the world’s top industrial nations, along with its expertise in manufacturing, construction, technology and supply chains, opens doors for industrial integration, knowledge transfer and localisation of industries in Oman.

Meanwhile, Yunus Atas, Head of the Turkish side of the Joint Business Council, described the partnership between Turkish chambers of commerce and OCCI as a strong model of bilateral economic cooperation. He said the council has delivered tangible results in recent years by enhancing trade exchange, facilitating dialogue and supporting joint ventures, as reflected in the strong participation of Turkish and Omani companies.

He also welcomed Türkiye’s selection as Guest of Honour at the Oman International Exhibition and Forum, noting that the recognition underscores the strength of bilateral economic relations and provides Turkish companies with greater scope to explore investment opportunities in Oman amid its economic growth and development ambitions.

The forum also featured a panel discussion on Oman’s economic diversification strategy, highlighting opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, energy and tourism. Speakers pointed to efforts to strengthen the industrial ecosystem, expand value-added production, position Oman as a regional logistics hub, and unlock investment potential in both conventional and renewable energy, alongside tourism’s role as a sustainable driver of growth and employment.
