The Gaveliers from Indian School Al Ghubra claimed top honours at the Oman Gavel Championship of Public Speaking held at Indian School Darsait on 23rd and 30th January 2026. A total of 264 contestants from 34 Gavel clubs across the Sultanate participated in the eight Semifinals conducted on Friday, 23rd January 2026.
ISG Gavel Club fielded 40 Gaveliers who participated in the four categories of the Competition – Evaluation speech, Humorous speech, Table Topics speech and International speech. The Gaveliers from ISG Gavel Club made a mark with their confidence, poise and élan. 17 of the ISG Gaveliers qualified for the Finals held on Friday, 30th January. There were 32 Finalists for the four categories.
It was a proud and extremely joyous moment when ISG Gavel Club grabbed 6 of the 12 prizes in the Finals. This achievement by the Gaveliers is a record of sorts where ISG Gaveliers grabbed the maximum positions keeping alive the tradition.

In the Evaluation speech category, Hamsini Pranesh Rao, Pranav Soman and Angela Mariam Kurien won the third, second, first positions while Hamsini Pranesh Rao, Aahana Panwar, and Sparsh Shreyas Patel emerged the third, second and first prize winners in the Humorous speech category. Pavan Soman, Anika Govil and Brijesh Chowdhary Mupparaju had podium finishes in the International speech category. With this glorious performance, ISG Gavel Club was declared the overall Champions of the Oman Gavel Championship of Public Speaking.


Gavel Buzz, the Oman Gavel Club Newsletter was released on 30th January. Five of the six Editors who comprise the Editorial team are the sprightly Counsellors from ISG Gavel Club.
The Principal, Ms Papri Ghosh and the management of Indian School Al Ghubra applauded the ISG Gaveliers on their exemplary performance and appreciated the Counsellors for providing the appropriate platform and training for the Gaveliers.
