MUSCAT – Speaking at the annual conference to review the year’s statistics and performance indicators, officials reported that 106 cases of child rape were recorded last year.
Other offenses included:
- 1,245 cases related to child sexual harassment.
- 1,212 cases involved various forms of violence against minors.
- 846 instances of exposing a child to delinquency.
- 68 cases involved using or handing over children for begging.
- 51 cases were filed against those employing children under 18 in their care.
- 30 cases of possessing child pornography via the internet or modern technology.
- 24 cases of violating a child’s right to complete basic education.
- 27 cases involved encouraging minors to engage in sexual activities.
