Muscat – Oman’s Public Prosecution said on Monday that 12 murder cases were officially recorded in the Sultanate of Oman in 2025, while an additional case linked to water contamination remains under investigation and has not yet been classified as homicide.
Speaking during its annual media briefing, the Public Prosecution said the unresolved case involves suspected water pollution, and authorities are still determining whether the death constitutes intentional or unintentional killing.
Officials said coordination is under way with the Iranian side to conduct specialised laboratory tests to identify the source of the water and the cause of contamination, adding that conclusions will be based on technical and forensic evidence.

The prosecution stressed that no legal classification would be made until investigations are completed, urging the public not to draw conclusions based on unverified information circulating on social media.
