MUSCAT : According to data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, private vehicles accounted for the largest share of registrations, making up 79.2 per cent of the total, with 1,465,455 vehicles. Commercial vehicles followed at 14.8 per cent, numbering 273,508 vehicles, while rental vehicles represented 2.4 per cent with 44,606 vehicles. The remaining registrations were distributed among taxis, government vehicles, and other categories.
The statistics also showed that vehicles weighing less than three tonnes dominated registrations across the Sultanate, accounting for 90.7 per cent of all vehicles, or 1,679,463 units.
