MUCSAT – In the first case, the Consumer Protection Authority’s (CPA) department in the Wilayat of Ibra received a complaint from a consumer who had entered into a contract with two defendants operating in the furniture and furnishings manufacturing sector to custom-make chairs and curtains for a total value of RO 250. The consumer paid an advance of RO 150, with the agreement stipulating delivery within two weeks. However, the defendants failed to deliver the items within the agreed timeframe, prompting the consumer to file a complaint. Following legal procedures and investigation by the Public Prosecution, the case was referred to the competent court.

The court ruled to convict the defendants of failing to provide the agreed service in a proper manner, fining each defendant RO 200 and ordering them to pay legal expenses. The court also ordered the defendants to refund the advance payment of RO 150 and pay compensation of RO 100 to the complainant, in addition to covering expenses.

In the second case, the CPA in Ibra received another complaint involving the same field of work, where two defendants had contracted to manufacture two truck covers for a consumer for RO 160, which was paid in full, with delivery agreed within one week. The defendants again failed to meet the delivery deadline, leading to legal action.

After investigation and referral to court, the defendants were convicted of failing to provide the service in accordance with the agreement. The court fined each defendant RO 200, ordered them to complete and deliver the agreed work to the complainant, and required them to pay legal expenses.
