Jabel Shams plummets to -4.0°C as Oman records freezing temperatures

Freezing temperatures have gripped Al Hajar Mountains as Jabel Shams recorded a low of -4.0°C, marking it as the coldest point in the Sultanate over the past 24 hours.

MUSCAT – The Civil Aviation Authority has reported the lowest temperatures recorded across Oman over the past 24 hours, as of Monday, January 26, 2026.

The coldest temperature was recorded at Jebel Shams, dropping to -4.0°C, while Saiq registered 6.2°C. Other areas also recorded low temperatures, including Muqshin at 12.1°C, Haima at 12.4°C, Qairoon Hairitti at 13.0°C, Ibra at 13.2°C, and both Yaaloni and Bidiyah at 13.4°C. Dhank and Al Qabil recorded 13.5°C, and Marmul registered 13.6°C.

All data were collected from the Civil Aviation Authority’s meteorological stations.
