Indian School Bousher marks 77th Republic Day with grand patriotic celebrations

Students, staff and dignitaries gather in Muscat to commemorate India’s 77th Republic Day, highlighting constitutional values and patriotic unity.

Muscat: The 77th Republic Day was observed with solemn grandeur and patriotic fervour at Indian School Bousher on Monday, 26 January 2026, as students, staff, parents, and dignitaries assembled to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. The day’s celebrations honoured India’s journey as a Republic, reflecting on decades of democratic progress while embracing the Republic Day 2026 theme, “150 Years of Vande Mataram,” paying tribute to the enduring spirit of patriotism and national unity embodied in the iconic national song.

The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, Mrs. Tavishi Behal Pandey, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy in Oman. The event was also honoured by the presence of several eminent dignitaries, including Mr. Harshendu Shah, Vice-Chairman, Board of Directors; Mr. Damodar R. Katti, Director-in-Charge of ISB and Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors; Mr. Vinoba M. P., Education Advisor and Senior Principal, Board of Directors, Dr Gokuldas V K, Chief Operating Director, Board of Directors,Indian Schools in Oman; and Mr. Karanjeet Singh Matharoo, President of the School Management Committee. Embassy officials, members of the School Management Committee, the Principal, staff, proud parents, and students were also present and witnessed the event.

Mr. Karanjeet Singh Matharoo warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The Chief Guest was received with a ceremonial tune rendered by the school band. She inspected the Guard of Honour, a ceremonial highlight that underscored the discipline and patriotic fervour of the occasion.

The celebrations featured a spectacular March Past by contingents from six Indian schools in Oman—Indian School Muscat, Indian School Ghubra, Indian School Wadi Kabir, Indian School Darsait, Indian School Al Seeb, and Indian School Bousher. More than 200 students marched in synchrony to the resounding beats of the school band, reflecting remarkable discipline, unity, and patriotism.

The cultural segment commenced with a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, commemorating 150 years of the iconic national song. The performance, presented by the school choir, resonated across the venue as their harmonious voices evoked deep pride and devotion, setting a dignified and patriotic tone for the rest of the celebrations. This was followed by a vibrant dance tribute to the Indian Armed Forces—Wings, Waves and Warriors—honouring their courage and sacrifice in safeguarding the nation.

Mrs. Tavishi Behal Pandey delivered an inspiring address in which she lauded the students for their exemplary discipline and creativity. She urged them to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and to actively contribute to India’s progress. In her address, she also highlighted the enduring and friendly relationship between India and Oman, marking over 70 years of strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The cultural segment further featured stirring patriotic performances, including Echoes of the Republic, which artistically interpreted the Preamble of the Constitution, and Rang De Tiranga, a vibrant dance presentation celebrating the true spirit of patriotism. This was followed by the Sanskrit musical performance Jayati Jayati Bharata Mata, which further elevated the atmosphere, filling the venue with pride and devotion.

A thought-provoking speech on the theme “Atma Nirbhar Bharat: From Swadeshi to Global Leadership” was delivered by Rehmat Patel of Grade XI, Indian School Bousher, highlighting the relevance of economic independence, innovation, and India’s growing leadership on the global stage.

The highlight of the day was the grand finale formation by students of Grades V to VIII, who created a spectacular visual of the Tricolour Flag and the Constitution Book, reinforcing the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. The formation was met with thunderous applause, as it symbolised national unity and the guiding principles of democracy.

The patriotic fervour echoed across the campus, reminding everyone to carry forward the spirit of patriotism, unity, and responsibility beyond Republic Day.

The 77th Republic Day celebration at Indian School Bousher was not merely an event; it served as a reminder of India’s rich heritage and its aspirations for a bright and prosperous future.
