From a dream to a national voice: Seven years of The Arabian Stories

Seven years later, I look back with gratitude and pride. We have weathered storms that could have broken us. Instead, they shaped us. Today, The Arabian Stories is not just a media brand. It is a household name, built on consistency, credibility, and trust.

January 2019 feels both distant and close, distant in time, yet vivid in emotion.

The Arabian Stories was born from a simple but powerful idea: to build a platform that stands for Oman, speaks Oman’s stories to the world, and reflects the soul of this nation with honesty, pride, and responsibility. I didn’t want just another media outlet. I wanted a voice that is credible, courageous, and rooted in purpose.

Back then, the landscape was very different. There was no fully digital-first news platform in Oman that moved with speed and depth. Factual information was often fragmented, and the urgency to break stories accurately and responsibly was missing. I believed Oman deserved better, a media house that was agile and aggressive in news gathering, yet grounded in ethics. That clarity of vision is how TAS began.

What followed was an emotional rollercoaster.

When COVID-19 hit, everything turned upside down. Revenues plunged overnight. Clients hesitated. Advertising slowed. Yet salaries had to be paid, responsibilities honoured, and morale protected. There were moments of deep uncertainty, moments where survival itself felt like success. But even in those darkest months, one thing never wavered: belief. Belief in the mission. Belief in the people. Belief that truth-driven journalism will always find its place.

And we endured.

Seven years later, I look back with gratitude and pride. We have weathered storms that could have broken us. Instead, they shaped us. Today, The Arabian Stories is not just a media brand. It is a household name, built on consistency, credibility, and trust.

We expanded thoughtfully and purposefully.

We launched Al Sawt, our Arabic brand, giving voice to stories in the language of the land.

We introduced BusinessPlus Review, a platform that chronicles global economic ambition and leadership journey.

We created TAS Weekly, celebrating lifestyle, culture, people, and moments that define everyday Oman.

We diversified beyond publishing into impact-driven platforms. TAS Conclave has grown into a flagship national forum, a space where ideas meet action, and conversations shape the future. HerStory Oman Summit & Awards became a celebration of women who lead with courage and conviction. Themar Islamic Banking Conference and Awards emerged as a knowledge-driven platform reflecting Oman’s evolving financial landscape.

From a two-member team to a family of 25, Omanis and expatriates working side by side, our growth has been inclusive, organic, and values-led. Each individual has contributed not just skills, but heart. Together, we built a culture that respects journalism, embraces innovation, and believes in collaboration.

At this milestone, I want to pause and say thank you.

To the team that stands with TAS today, your commitment, resilience, and belief are the backbone of this organisation. To those who walked with us in earlier chapters and later moved on, your contribution remains part of our foundation. Every late night, every difficult decision, every story chased, every event executed, every risk taken, this journey belongs to all of you. TAS is not built by one person; it is built by collective effort, shared sacrifice, and mutual trust.

As we look ahead, the future is both exciting and demanding. In a rapidly shifting global order, sustainability is the real challenge. Media today must evolve faster than ever before. Our next chapter focuses on integrating AI into our digital products, enhancing storytelling, and building smarter platforms. We are launching youth-focused initiatives like the Youth Leadership Summit, because the future must be shaped by young voices empowered today.

What makes TAS special is not just what we do, but how we do it. We have stayed consistent when shortcuts were tempting. We have stayed credible when noise was louder than truth. We have stayed trustworthy when trust itself became scarce.

Seven years on, I can say this with quiet satisfaction: the dream of building a firm that becomes the face of a nation, a platform that Oman can call its own, feels fulfilled.

And yet, this is only the beginning.

Because as long as Oman has stories to tell, The Arabian Stories will be here, listening, documenting, and standing firmly for the truth.

Seven years. One belief. Many stories.
