MUSCAT : The event is being held under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the Omani Paralympic Committee and the West Asian Paralympic Federation.
The announcement was made during a press conference held today.
Dr. Mansour bin Sultan Al Touqi, Games Director, highlighted that Oman’s hosting of the regional event reflects its growing commitment to Paralympic sports and the confidence regional committees place in the Sultanate due to its organizational expertise and robust sports infrastructure.

“The Games provide a platform to showcase the abilities of athletes with disabilities, promote fair competition, mutual respect, and reinforce equal opportunities and social inclusion,” Dr. Al Touqi said. He added that Muscat was selected for its strategic location, rich heritage, modern facilities, and comprehensive cultural and tourism offerings, enhancing Oman’s position on the regional and international Paralympic sports map.
The tournament will feature nine main sports: athletics, weightlifting, boccia, table tennis, badminton, cycling, swimming, goalball, and wheelchair basketball. A total of 600 athletes from 11 countries – Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia – will participate.
Dr. Al Touqi noted that competitions will adhere to international standards in organization, arbitration, and medical classification. Training workshops for referees have been conducted, involving 108 national and 35 international referees. Medical services will be available throughout the Games, with 13 international classifiers managing medical classifications for approximately 100 athletes. Anti-doping measures will be implemented in coordination with the Omani Anti-Doping Committee.
Security arrangements are underway to ensure the safety of all participants, spectators, and officials. The opening ceremony is scheduled for February 3 at 8 pm at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
