MUSCAT : According to the Ministry, the projected opportunities will include 10,000 jobs in the government sector, 33,000 in the private sector, and 17,000 opportunities through national training and qualification programmes linked to employment.

The announcement was made during the Ministry’s media meeting, which reviewed key achievements over the past year and outlined future directions for the labour sector and human resources development.
Officials noted that these employment targets fall under the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), which includes 17 strategic programmes distributed across three priorities, with 12 programmes dedicated to labour market and employment development. These initiatives are designed to align with future labour market trends and support sustainable economic growth.

The Ministry explained that during the 2026–2027 period, priority will be given to accelerating the absorption of job seekers in the public and private sectors, expanding freelance work opportunities, developing tailored employment programmes for job seekers from groups with special characteristics, and strengthening national legislation and institutional capacities to enhance labour market inspection and compliance. For the 2028–2029 phase, the focus will shift toward empowering national competencies through freelance work platforms and institutional partnerships, enabling Omanis to occupy supervisory, specialized, and technical positions in priority economic sectors.

Reviewing recent performance, the Ministry reported that 36,413 job opportunities were provided in 2025, alongside 15,069 vocational training opportunities linked to employment and replacement. In the area of employment governance, 18 sectoral committees announced the provision of 13,000 job opportunities, while the freelance labour system recorded 2,300 registered professions and facilitated the placement of more than 4,000 Omanis in technical and leadership roles.

The Ministry also highlighted progress in labour market regulation through the Wage Protection System. More than 139,000 establishments have been registered under the system, with a 99.8 per cent compliance rate among large establishments, significantly enhancing transparency, wage security, and job stability.

In addition, the Ministry revealed that more than 4,000 Omani citizens were employed within a single year through the Tawteen platform, underscoring the effectiveness of digital employment tools in connecting national job seekers with labour market opportunities.
