MUSCAT — Indian School Al Ghubra hosted a grand ISG Alumni Meet as part of the Silver Jubilee Reunion of the Class of 2001 from 8 January to 11 January 2026. The alumni, now well-settled professionals and homemakers across the globe, found the reunion to be a rare and cherished opportunity to meet old friends, relive childhood memories, and reconnect with the institution that shaped their lives.
The meet was organised through the initiative of Dr. Nigel Kuriakose Mathew, Anesthesiologist at Sultan Qaboos University, and Reji Prasanth Ravindran, Sales Manager for Oil and Gas Products, with the support of the teachers-in-charge of the ISG Alumni Team.
A major highlight of the reunion was the guided tour of the school campus, which evoked a strong sense of nostalgia among the members. They visited the staffroom—an area they had never accessed as students—and were delighted to interact with the teachers and introduce their families to them. They also visited the school laboratories and expressed excitement at seeing how well maintained and upgraded the facilities were over the years.

The alumni then returned to their classrooms, where they attended a mock classroom session conducted by their teacher of yesteryears and the current Vice Principal, G. Sreekumar. The visit to the music room saw them reliving moments that had once been an integral part of their school life, as they sang the school song with great enthusiasm.
Revisiting the school grounds proved equally exciting as they played football, cricket, and basketball matches just like in their student days. Wearing the school jerseys, the alumni team played friendly matches against the current ISG students. The alumni team won trophies in football and cricket, while the school students emerged victorious in the basketball match. The alumni appreciated the students’ performance and remarked that the students of today appeared better trained and highly skilled.
The members of the meet who were from diverse professional fields such as information technology, finance, management, the Indian Army, medicine, engineering, entrepreneurship, radio and filmmaking, and hailing from Muscat, various parts of India, the United States, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom, participated in an interactive panel discussion with students of Classes 9 and 11. Students posed insightful questions about career options, professional challenges, and the meaning of success.
The formal alumni meet, held in the school auditorium, was marked by reflection and gratitude. The programme began with an opening address by Viju Krishnan, while the event was smoothly conducted by Jane Jeyakumar. Messages from former teachers were read out by Apeksha Pawar, adding an emotional touch to the gathering. During the open mic session, alumni members expressed heartfelt gratitude to the school and spoke highly of the strong values instilled in them at ISG, noting how they continue to uphold these values in their personal and professional lives. Adding a special dimension to the event, a parent of an alumnus addressed the gathering and spoke appreciatively about the positive role ISG had played in shaping his son’s growth and character.
The alumni wore specially designed T-shirts created by alumna Vivian Rachel Jayson, a computer engineer, teacher, and administrator, who also designed the mementos presented during the event. The mementos were handed over to Ahmed Rayees, President of the School Management Committee; Mohiuddin Mohamed Ali; Principal- Mrs. Papri Ghosh; Vice Principals- G. Sreekumar and Pyarija Cidar; former teachers Dr. B. R. Dogra, Afzal Sher Khan; and all the staff members who contributed to the successful organisation of the reunion. The celebrations were further enlivened by vibrant music and dance performances.
Beyond the school campus, the alumni also enjoyed a tour of Muscat, making the reunion a blend of nostalgia and exploration. The group took part in sightseeing activities, snorkeling, and dolphin watching, creating memorable experiences together.
The alumni expressed their sincere appreciation to the school and staff, making the reunion a meaningful celebration of lasting friendships, cherished memories, and the enduring bond between Indian School Al Ghubra and its alumni.
