MUSCAT – The municipality explained that feeding birds in open spaces contributes to a range of negative health and environmental impacts. Leftover food attracts insects and rodents, increasing the risk of infestations and the spread of disease. It also leads to unpleasant odours, environmental pollution, and deterioration in the appearance of public spaces.

The practice can further disturb nearby residents and undermine efforts to maintain clean, safe, and attractive urban environments.

As part of its responsibility to protect public health and enhance quality of life, the Municipality continues to implement awareness campaigns and monitoring efforts to curb such negative behaviours.
