Muscat: The initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Education, forms part of a broader national vision focused on strengthening cultural identity and discovering young artistic talents across creative disciplines. It seeks to provide students with a dedicated platform to express themselves, showcase their work and transform talent into long-term personal and social value.

Safiya bint Saif Al Ghafri, Supervisor of School Activities at the Department of Career Guidance and Student Counselling and the originator of the initiative, said that nurturing talent is a vital investment in the nation’s future. She noted that the initiative is the result of nine years of planning and experience, driven by a central question on how student talent can be recognised, developed and integrated into their future paths.

She added that the initiative was launched with a clear vision rooted in students’ needs and a belief that every student carries creative potential that deserves to be discovered in a safe and motivating educational environment. This approach, she said, aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which places creative, confident and capable individuals at the heart of national priorities.

Al Ghafri stressed that the “Arts Challenge 2026” goes beyond showcasing artworks, focusing instead on celebrating students who have built their identities, expressed themselves creatively and converted talent into meaningful contributions to society. She highlighted that well-managed educational initiatives can move beyond temporary activities to create sustainable national impact.

As part of the programme, a group of outstanding students were selected as Talent Ambassadors after achieving advanced positions in the first edition of the challenge. These students, chosen for excellence in visual and plastic arts and their commitment to national and humanitarian values, will serve as role models for their peers.

The first edition of the initiative includes 35 male and female students from various educational levels. Acting as a link between the initiative and schools, the ambassadors will promote creativity, motivate participation and encourage artistic engagement among fellow students.

The ambassadors will also take part in art workshops, exhibitions, and school and community events at local and regional levels, helping foster artistic leadership, self-empowerment and the sustainability of the initiative.

The launch ceremony featured the unveiling of the official logo and visual identity of “Arts Challenge 2026,” alongside the honouring of talent ambassadors and winning schools.
