WASHINGTON : Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States had carried out a “large-scale strike” against Venezuela, claiming that President Nicolás Maduro had been captured and flown out of the country.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the operation was conducted “in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement” and asserted that Maduro and his wife were detained following the action.
There was no immediate confirmation from U.S. government agencies or from Venezuelan authorities. The White House, the U.S. State Department and the Pentagon did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and the claims could not be independently verified.
