MUSCAT : The initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, through the Industrial Innovation Academy, and aligns closely with Oman Vision 2040 objectives.
Five SMEs from Dhofar Governorate have benefited from the project, enhancing their ability to introduce competitive, value-added food products to local and regional markets. The programme also highlights the growing importance of public-private partnerships in empowering entrepreneurs and accelerating industrial innovation.
The project focuses on developing innovative food products with higher added value, improving the quality of locally produced food items, and preparing new products for successful market entry. Participating enterprises received a comprehensive package of technical, technological, and advisory support at Dhofar Laboratories. This included product evaluation, recipe and manufacturing process enhancement, implementation of research and development plans, quality improvement, food safety testing, brand identity development, and packaging design.

As part of its outcomes, the project led to the development of four innovative food products: frankincense tea, yogurt, coconut juice, and frankincense coffee. In addition, Dhofar Laboratories continues to serve as a support platform for enterprises seeking to improve product quality and sustain innovation, with a focus on delivering high-quality offerings capable of competing across regional markets.
Ahmed bin Abdullah Muqbil, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at OQ Basic Industries, said the initiative represents a strong model of effective public-private collaboration. He noted that the project reflects the company’s commitment to developing local products, enabling SMEs to build sustainable competitive capabilities, enhancing local content, and generating positive impacts on the national economy.
