Muscat: The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by His Excellency Engineer Ibrahim bin Saeed Al-Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Heritage, while the chairman of the board of directors signed on behalf of the company as the authorised signatory.

The partnership aims to maximise the cultural and economic value of one of the most significant historical landmarks in the South Sharqiyah Governorate, recognising the fort’s deep-rooted heritage importance and its potential to contribute to sustainable economic development.

Once operational under modern management standards, the fort is expected to play a key role in revitalising tourism by attracting visitors from within and outside the Sultanate. The project also strengthens private-sector participation in the management of heritage assets, aligning with national goals to diversify the economy.

In addition to enhancing the visitor experience, the initiative will create multiple investment opportunities, including tourism and cultural programmes, entertainment events and traditional craft fairs. It is also expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for members of the local community.
