MUSCAT : His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has reaffirmed that the citizen remains at the heart of the state’s priorities, calling for all government capabilities to be mobilised to deliver tangible benefits to the public, according to remarks relayed following a meeting with members of the Council of Oman.

Hassan bin Ali Al Nabhani, a member of the Shura Council Office, told Al Wisal Radio in an interview that the meeting went beyond a formal audience, describing it as a detailed and wide-ranging discussion of national files, from the researchers’ employment dossier and the state of the national economy to issues that directly affect citizens’ daily lives.

Al Nabhani said His Majesty demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Omani affairs, engaging with topics down to the finest details felt by the public. In his interventions, His Majesty emphasised that citizens must be placed at the forefront of policy-making, with state institutions and the government working in an integrated manner to serve public interest.

According to Al Nabhani, His Majesty the Sultan expressed strong openness to proposals put forward by the Council and stressed that council members should act as a support to the government in advancing national objectives. His Majesty also commended the maturity reflected in recent Shura Council deliberations, urging members to focus discussions on issues that elevate the nation.

The meeting also addressed the researchers’ and jobseekers’ file with full transparency, reviewing employment figures, recruitment opportunities and mechanisms for addressing challenges, Al Nabhani said, adding that a number of solutions and proposals were discussed during the session.
