Muscat — The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Friday said a driver was rescued and later detained after his vehicle was swept into a flooded wadi in Wilayat Khasab, Musandam Governorate, following an attempt to cross during heavy rainfall.
According to the ROP, police patrols detained the driver for endangering his life and others by attempting to cross the swollen wadi, which caused his vehicle to lose control and become trapped in fast-flowing water.
Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority teams intervened and successfully rescued the driver without reports of serious injuries. The police confirmed that legal procedures have been initiated in accordance with the law.
