MUSCAT : India is set to sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Oman, marking a significant step in deepening New Delhi’s economic engagement with the Gulf region and strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties.

The agreement will be Oman’s second free trade agreement with an individual country and its first bilateral FTA in nearly 20 years, underscoring the strategic importance both countries attach to expanding economic cooperation.

Once concluded, the CEPA is expected to enhance market access for goods and services, promote two-way investment and strengthen collaboration across key sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, energy and emerging industries, officials said.

The pact is also aimed at supporting trade diversification and improving supply chain resilience at a time of global economic realignment, as countries seek more stable and reliable trade partnerships.

India and Oman have long-standing economic and people-to-people ties, with the proposed agreement seen as a move to translate political goodwill into deeper commercial integration and long-term growth opportunities for businesses in both countries.
