MUSCAT : His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), describing trade and investment as a central pillar of cooperation between the two countries.
In a joint statement, Sultan Haitham said trade and commercial exchange form a fundamental base for bilateral cooperation, underlining the potential to achieve further growth and diversification in Oman–India trade relations.
The leaders emphasised the importance of supporting partnerships to expand cooperation in the energy sector, including opportunities in exploration and production, as well as collaboration in new and renewable energy fields such as green hydrogen and green ammonia.

The CEPA aims to enhance market access, promote investment flows and deepen economic integration between Oman and India, while supporting long-term growth objectives and supply chain resilience.
The agreement marks Oman’s first free trade pact in nearly two decades and reflects both countries’ commitment to strengthening economic ties and expanding cooperation across priority sectors.
