MUSCAT — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he is looking forward to strengthening India’s strategic partnership with the Sultanate of Oman as he visits Muscat to mark 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“In Muscat, I look forward to my discussions with His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, and towards strengthening our Strategic Partnership as well as our strong commercial and economic relationship,” Modi said in a statement ahead of the visit.

He also highlighted the role of the Indian community in deepening bilateral ties, noting that he would address a gathering of the Indian diaspora in Oman, which he said “has contributed immensely to the country’s development and in enhancing our partnership.”

India and Oman share long-standing civilisational, trade and people-to-people links, with cooperation spanning energy, trade, investment, defence and maritime security.
