MUSCAT — An Omani court has ordered a kitchen installation company’s representative in Muscat to serve a one-year prison term and refund a consumer after the firm failed to complete contracted work, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said on Sunday.

The case stems from a complaint filed by a consumer in Muscat who had paid an advance amount for the installation of a kitchen. According to the CPA, the company did not carry out the work in line with the agreed contract, prompting legal action.

The court convicted the company’s representative, sentencing him to one year in jail and imposing a fine of RO 1,000. The ruling also requires the representative to refund RO1,000 to the consumer and to bear legal costs.

The CPA said the verdict underscores the Sultanate’s commitment to protecting consumer rights and holding businesses accountable for failing to meet contractual obligations.
