BAGHDAD : The Sultanate of Oman participated today in the 28th Session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The session aimed to discuss a number of important topics related to the future of the Arab tourism sector. The Omani delegation was led by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

The session’s agenda addressed support for the Palestinian economy in the tourism sector, the efforts of the “Arabi Trips” platform to promote Arab tourism, digital transformation in Arab tourism, the development of therapeutic tourism in the Arab world, and the development of a joint regional tourism product.

The session also discussed the fields of tourism innovation and smart tourism, the inclusiveness of contemporary tourist destinations, climate change and its impact on the Arab tourism sector, the Arab Tourism Observatory, in addition to the guide for accessible tourism for people with special needs, the selection of the Arab Tourism Capital for 2026, and integration between tourism and civilizational and cultural heritage.

Oman’s participation in discussing the item concerning the integration between tourism and civilizational and cultural heritage comes within the framework of its preparation to host the Arab Forum for Investment in Cultural Heritage Sites in the first quarter of 2026.
The meeting of Arab Ministers of Tourism represents an important platform for enhancing cooperation between Arab countries and exchanging successful experiences. It also serves to support joint Arab initiatives that contribute to raising the efficiency of the Arab tourism sector, diversifying products, attracting investments, and empowering national competencies in the fields of innovation, digital transformation, and tourist destination management.
