MUSCAT — Oman on Wednesday facilitated the transfer of 11 crew members from the Greek-operated cargo ship Eternity C from Yemen’s capital Sana’a to Muscat, the Oman News Agency said, as part of the Sultanate’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to secure their safe return.
The crew — all Filipino and Indian nationals — were flown aboard a Royal Air Force of Oman aircraft after Omani authorities coordinated their release and arranged their transport, the statement added. They will proceed to their home countries following medical and logistical checks in Muscat.
The Eternity C sank in the Red Sea in July after it was struck by missiles fired by Yemen’s Houthi movement during a series of attacks on commercial vessels in the region. Several crew members were rescued at the time, while others were taken into custody, prompting international concern and diplomatic efforts to secure their release.
