MUSCAT : His Excellency Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, received His Excellency Eng Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, Algeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, who is on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed existing areas of cooperation and discussed ways to expand their partnership, particularly in investment activities linked to food production chains, joint project development, and the attraction of high-quality investments that support food security and the growth of related industries.





Both parties also examined the potential for establishing joint investment projects in agricultural, livestock and fisheries production, as well as developing supporting infrastructure to advance these sectors in line with the mutual interests of the two countries.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials from both sides.
As part of his visit, His Excellency the Algerian Minister and his accompanying delegation toured the Silal Central Vegetable and Fruit Market and the central wholesale market in the Khazaen Economic City. He was briefed on the operational systems of the central markets, mechanisms for trading agricultural products, and supply-chain management processes.
The Algerian delegation also learned about advanced practices in wholesale market operations, marketing methods, and digital applications used to track products and improve service efficiency for farmers and traders.
The visit additionally included a stop at the Central Wholesale Fish Market in Barka, where the delegation was introduced to market facilities, modern systems for trading, sorting and refrigerated storage, and procedures designed to ensure the safety and quality of marine products.
The visit comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise between Oman and Algeria in agriculture, fisheries, and the development of market systems and related services.
